It’s 2022 and the world is changing. The pressures students face now are very different to those of a decade ago. But as trends and priorities shift, so do we.
That’s why we’ve got a fresh look (thanks for noticing) and we’ve extended our membership to include Student Edge Plus – a game changer to help students navigate the murky waters of today’s ever-changing world.
It’s come about after years of watching students face the same challenges. It’s already a tough time with troubles around identity, self-belief, mental health, finding direction… and of course pimples.
Then they’re asked to make really big decisions about their life and career—with loads of pressure, little support, and often misguided information. Perhaps you experienced this too? It’s sort of like finding your way out of a jungle alone, with no compass.
We grew frustrated with watching many students with wonderful potential go through this process, only to become discouraged, overwhelmed, and go down a path that undermined their brilliance.
We started Student Edge Plus to support students through this journey after listening to what they needed and getting feedback from parents, teachers and employers. Students told us what they wanted to learn (like taxes, study tips and finance), and employers told us the key skills they wanted young people to know (like leadership, communication and budgeting).
So, our membership champions on-demand life skills learning, taught by industry experts around Australia. It features snackable courses that build on one another and lead to pathways with real-world outcomes. It’s kinda like a stairway to a young person’s ultimate goals, unlocking their passion and purpose.
So far, we’ve launched pathways for the world of jobs, money, and uni. These will help students grow their independence, make decisions about their future and develop financial smarts. And there’s many more to come, including business and mental health.
“We’ve been listening to the needs of young people and working with experts to develop content to help young people learn practical things,” said Chief Product Officer, Jeremy Chetty.
“It’s an exciting new journey that will help innovate life education and learning in a digital context. The new look and feel is indicative of that.
“You can expect a lot more compelling, digital experiences that will have a real positive impact on students, as well as schools and organisations that want to implement more programs around life skills and general capabilities.”
It’s pretty cool. But don’t just take our word for it. Head to our website and check it out for yourself.
