Influential Interviews.
Our editorial team had the privilege of talking to multiple big personalities both Australia-based and international. We delved into the world of professional racing with Jann Mardenborough and discussed upcoming projects with Lana Condor, the lead in the Dreamworks’ film Ruby Gillman, Teenage Craken. And we gained some insights from Thomas Thistlethwaite, the animator for Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse. Our content was star-studded this year.
Viral Content and Our Audience’s Favourites.
Our top read article for the year articulated the thought process behind students using AI and shared the student point of view behind the AI trend.
Our article was based on a survey our team completed where we spoke to 576 young people about AI for our survey “Young People’s Perception and Use of Generative AI”.
We found that 71 per cent of students who had used AI before, said they hadn’t nor would use it to plagirise.
Our readers displayed a wide range of interests, and while AI was one topic of appeal, our editorial team’s coverage of the Barbie x Grill’d collaboration was a crowd favourite, securing the third spot among the most-read articles of the year.
Top Brands and Member Concerns.
- The Number 1 Brand as voted by Gen Z in Student Edge’s Top 100.
- September 2023 Student Edge Members Survey
Student Edge members had the opportunity to share their thoughts on our 2023 Top 100 Youth Brands Report, with YouTube emerging as the winner among 100 brands in 10 categories.
Additionally, insights from the 2023 Student Edge Members Survey revealed some the concerns of young people this year. These revolved around the cost of living/ inflation, academic performance, future uncertainties, mental health and job prospects.
Helping Students Get Job Ready.
Student Edge Wrapped 2023 highlights that more than 320,000 members created a Student Edge Passport to build their resume and help them with finding their next job.
We’ll continue to empower students to get job ready next year and beyond by helping them set up their Passports and providing them with insights and webinars so they can continue learning.
Creating Community with our Deals and Competitions.
We are always looking to create a community for our members through competitions and deals. This year deals were a massive hit with over 700,000 views and the HOYTS $12.50 general admission movie tickets being our members’ favourite.
Our members also loved engaging with our competitions, and this year we had 858 winners claiming $74,300 in prizes throughout the year.
Supporting Students While They Study.
We had a huge amount of students participate in Student Edge surveys this year, with $175,000 in Edge Credits awarded.
Most importantly, our community continued to grow, reaching 1,375,000 members.
The Student Edge team have more things planned to make student life easier in 2024. We can’t wait to deliver even more resources and perks for our members to support them on their student journey.
